SWCRA

The SWCRA was formed by Scott Shook and Chad Elliston in 2003 to give calf ropers in the local area a place to go. The success was overwhelming and through the support of many members we decided to take the organization to a another level. Although we do have to cover our expenses the calf ropings are supported by Southwestern Conversions which is our primary line of business in which we sell and distribute C & C trailers in Texas and Louisiana. Our ropings tend to pay better due to the fact that we are not trying to make a living on the calf ropings. We owe a lot of appreciation to Lanham Mangold and the USCRA for their support with any problems we have had with numbering or the scheduling of ropings. In the first year we have grown to over 500 members. We will give 8 trailers, 10 saddles and over 120 buckles by the time our finals are complete. We have received a lot of praise from our members and I think our association has grown and become so successful due to the fact that we listen to what the ropers want. There are several other associations that offer gimmicks. With the high cost of fuel and the increased cost of horses and cattle, we try to give the calf roper good calves to run and a chance to win good money with every run. We simply give the calf roper more bang for the buck and that has proven to be successful for us. We want to send a big thanks out to all of the volunteers behind the scenes that help with the ropings and make the ropings such a success We want to send a special thanks to our corporate sponsors including: Wrangler, Commercial State Bank, Interior Supply & Services and Sign Designs.

Sincerely,
